Safe Haven Orphanage
When I arrived at Safe Haven orphanage was unsure of what to expect, and now that I have been here only 2 of the 4 weeks that I have in total to live at Safe Haven, I have made many observations along the way.
Let me start with Tasanee, “Big Mom.” Tasanee has made such a huge imprint on my life and heart, one that will stay with me forever. To me Tasanee is most definitely Super Woman! She cares for every single person at this orphanage as her own and as equals. Super Woman, Tasanee supports the children with ever single step they take in life, big or small. Tasanee if full of wise words, ones which she teaches to the children, and every visitor she has, these words have huge merit in life and they are ones even I will always remember. She teaches the children to be strong for themselves and all those around them, she also teaches the children to be thankful for what little they have, to forgive and to love. Tasanee really has given these children a wonderful, fresh start in life. The children now have a positive and bright future ahead of them; this is all thanks to this beautifully spirited woman, Tasanee. I can say to this date, I have not yet met anybody who has had the incredible effect Tasanee has had on me, and I am sure to say this would be the same for every visitor to Safe Haven. Words cannot even begin to say quite how incredible this woman is!
Secondly, the children ranging from 3 months to 18 years, these children are amazingly intelligent, polite, honest, graceful; helpful…l. the list could just carry on forever. It is such a giant pleasure that I have had the chance to meet, live and be part of their beautiful big family that they have here at Safe Haven. All of the children take pride in their studying and still they are hungry to learn more. All of the children help one another, offering their support and love openly from the eldest to the youngest. Just to witness the utmost love and respect that every single child has for Tasanee is a beautiful thing.
When helping Tasanee to write the children’s stories for the website, understanding each individual past background was incredibly harrowing for me and my friend Lo. It is truly unbelievable to see how these children have moved on in life from their difficult past and beautifully blossomed into wonderful caring and loving members of one big amazing community and family here at Safe Haven.
I wrote this passage with help of a dear friend of mine, Lo who spent one week here with me. We were both incredibly touched.
You Tasanee and all of your beautiful children will be in my heart, FOREVER!!! Lo and I will miss and love every single one of you for eternity.
