Safe Haven Orphanage
Safe Haven’s new arrivals have begun to adjust to life here, right across the border from their home of Karen state, with Safe Haven residents pitching in to help them feel welcome at the orphanage. Most of the children are studying and sleeping in the church building, while the older boys have begun to build amazing new huts in the surrounding areas.
During the day, the children receive Karen and English lessons, and divide the rest of their time between playing and doing chores, such as cooking, cleaning and washing their own clothes. Their independence and resilience is awe-inspiring.
